Reykjavik

Reykjavík is the capital and largest city in Iceland. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the southern shore of Faxaflói Bay with over half of the population of Iceland living there.

When we first arrived in Iceland August 2005, we spent a couple of days just walking around Reykjavik before flying across to Reyðarfjörður. Reykjavík is a truly beautiful city, surrounded by snow-topped mountains, just glorious!

That first visit was more about becoming familiar with the city to know what was available. When we went across to meet my parents who sailed into Reykjavík July 2007, we took a morning tour which I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting. There was so much information we learnt that day that we’d never would have learnt otherwise.

So many things to see in Reykjavik!

One great example above is in that photo above second from the right on the bottom, that’s the house Ronald Regan and Michail Gorbachev met for three days discussing the end of the “cold war“!
